Independent Entertainers and Artists of all kinds now have their own association to belong to. The newly-formed Independent Entertainer's Association/IEA is now officially established as of August 27, 2008.
The Independent Entertainer's Association/IEA is a non-profit trade association of Entertainers and Artists who are not affiliated with a major distribution channel, and/or other interested parties. IEA works to enhance and improve the Independent Entertainment business climate by bringing this segment of the industry to the general public.
By protecting the rights of Independent Entertainers, IEA plans to give this Independent market a channel in which to collaborate professionally. IEA’s hope is to assist these Independents by helping them to improve their sales and profits by way of advocacy and marketing opportunities, which are not currently available to them.
IEA will provide a variety of services to Independent Entertainers including the scheduling and coordination of a number of activities and events, including an upcoming kick-off party and trade show. In addition, IEA will provide direct services to its Members, which include professional lobbyist services to represent members with government agencies, communications in the form of a monthly newsletter and legal advice upon request. IEA will utilize constituency as a special interests group to leverage group benefits such as coordinating members' dealings with insurance companies and distributors for rates and discounts.
Among the services planned for the future are a group insurance medical plan for all members, a group purchasing plan promoting the IEA members onto the Internet for consumer sales and inter-member product distribution, a permanent Entertainer’s education and training facility, and the implementation of the already developed Internet-based Independent-Entertainer only radio stations.
Research shows that Independent Entertainers represent 80% of the $930 Billion Dollar Entertainment industry. In addition, this industry is growing 5% yearly*.
Independents are found in all forms of Entertainment. Music represents a large portion of these professionals. However, there are also filmmakers, actors, screenwriters, authors, painters, architects, magicians, fighters, skateboarders, dancers, poets, comedians, custom auto and motorcycle fabricators, clothing designers, inspirational speakers, hairdressers, surfers, street performers, aspiring entrepreneurs and many other independent artists this association will embrace and represent.
For the most part, potential members are businesses large or small with limited resources for marketing and affiliations with distribution channels in their industry. IEA helps them improve their earnings and increase the value of their investments with sales and management training a well as marketing, information, and opportunities.
There are potential associate members outside the traditional Entertainment industry, such as manufacturers, distributors, insurance companies, and others who service and sell to members.
Since IEA’s goal is to bring together all interested parties in the Entertainment industry, the Association plans to have a broad target market with management focusing on superior servicing of our core constituency.

It's official! The IEA has set a date for July 1 & 2, 2009 for their first annual IEDay, a trade show targeting independent artists who are members of the Independent Entertainer's Association and April 4 & 5 is the date for the official IEDay kick-off party. These events are important networking opportunities for all those Independents, sponsors and businesses striving to get their ideas, talents and other interests out to a community who supports and honors them. IEA is an organization that brings Independent Artists together for networking, press & advertising purposes and for Independents to share their resources with one another in one convenient place.
IEDay is preparing to be the BEST convention for Independent Artists in the Nation, with an all-ages celebration and tradeshow set in the Las Vegas Convention Center on July 1 & 2. Las Vegas is the HUB of the entertainment and convention industry and thus the perfect place for Independents to gather together. There will be opportunities for artists to perform, display their work, enter to win prizes, market to their target audience and make their appearaces at numerous parties. The kick-off party will be on April 4 & 5 at the Henderson Ampitheater.
IEDay is looking for all kinds of participants. There are booth spaces, sponsor opportunities, vendor opportunities and Independents can attend the show to network with other Independent Artists. Independent businesses can also have a booth and offer their services to all these Independents as well. IEDay will be a one-stop-shop for everything to do with Independent Entertainment.
The IEDay movement and purpose behind it is also starting to spread. With over 500 members, car stickers and logos all over the city of Las Vegas and numerous requests for public appearances, the Independent Market is making a major statement!
